Tales From The Trails ~ May 2014 Fam Tour

2014 fam tour

May 2nd 3rd and 4th marked the 2014 edition of the Fam Tour (Familiarization Tour) held every year to acquaint new members and even the occasional tourist with the largest loop in the EOTA system. By large I mean 3 days and 600 kms. This is an unbelievable ride for anyone wishing to experience Eastern Ontario from the seat of an ATV.

We had 20 riders signed up for this years addition with 4 riders on the bubble and the ride was announced full. We only can handle a maximum of 16 riders due to accommodations on the first leg of the trip. This lets me allow a few cancellations. It just so happened, that is exactly what happened. It was a very diverse group this year from young to old, experienced to beginner, with 3 couples in the mix, all riding ATV’s… no SxS’s this year, which is kind of odd.

Spring 2013 Fam Tour

The Napanee & District ATV Club had sunny skies and plus 20 degree weather all 3 days for our 2nd annual Fam Tour.

The 2013 spring 600 km. Fam Tour is in the books…

The Napanee & District ATV Club had sunny skies and plus 20 degree weather all 3 days for our 2nd annual Fam Tour. Eighteen club members and non members signed up very quickly for this years 600 km. loop around the EOTA system.

After meeting in Napanee at Denny’s for a hearty breakfast, we drove to Kaladar where we would begin our trek. We first have a group discussion on trail etiquette and ride procedures which really helps the rides go smoothly.

Tales from the Trails

Fam Tour

On April 20th, 21st, and 22nd, 2012 marked our 11th trip around the EOTA trail system on a 3 day tour we call the FAM (familiarization) Tour. It’s to give new members, and old ones too a chance to see where these trails lead to without fear of getting lost. A total of 11 members signed up for the 600 km. trip. We start booking all of accommodations once we feel out some interest within the club membership. We ask for 10 - 15 participants and finalize our plans once we reach 10. 10 to 15 seems to be the perfect number of riders for a group ride. It’s not too difficult to keep track of everyone in your group. It seems to be easier to get to know that many people in a 3 day weekend.
